Our 67th Winter Recreation Program of supervised recreational and instructional programs
is  for children enrolled in the Farmingdale School District. In most cases, registration takes
place  in first session. Instructional programs in "Swimming, Gymnastics and Cultural Arts
are self-sustaining. The registration fee for the programs are as indicated below. Further
information may attained by contacting our office by telephone at 516-694-0916

SWIMMING INSTRUCTION / 1ST SESSION is for children entering Grades 2 to 8 as of September 2017, and meet Saturdays at the Farmingdale High School Pool, beginning October 7th, 2017. There are a total of eight (8) sessions. Session times are 10 AM, 11 AM or 12 Noon, each lasting one hour. Children must be a minimum of 48 inches in height.

Registration: is Saturday, September 16th at the Farmingdale High School Pool. Registration time is from 10 AM to 1 PM; $35 registration fee per child is required.

SWIMMING INSTRUCTION / 2nd SESSION is for children entering Grades 2 to 8 as of September 2017, and meet Saturdays at the Farmingdale High School Pool, beginning December 16th, 2017. There are a total of eight (8) sessions. Session times are 10 AM, 11 AM or 12 Noon, each lasting one hour. Children must be a minimum of 48 inches in height.

Registration: is Saturday, December 9th at the Farmingdale High School Pool. Registration time is from 10 AM to 1 PM; $35 registration fee per child is required.

SWIMMING INSTRUCTION / 3rd SESSION is for children entering Grades 2 to 8 as of September 2017, and "Tiny Tots" ages 1 to 5, and meet Saturdays at the Farmingdale High School Pool, beginning March 10th, 2018. There are a total of eight (8) sessions. Session times for grades 2 to 8 are 10 AM, 11 AM or 12 Noon, each lasting one hour. Tiny Tots session is from 9 AM to 9:40 AM, lasting a total of 40 minutes. Children Grades 2 to 8 must be a minimum of 48 inches in height. Tiny Tots must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in the pool at all times.

Registration: is Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at the Farmingdale High School Pool. Registration time is from 10 AM to 1 PM; $35 registration fee per child is required.

SEPTA SPLASH SWIM / 1ST SESSION is for children entering Grades 2 to 12 as of September 2017, and meet Saturdays at the Farmingdale High School Pool, beginning October 7th, 2017. From 1-2 pm: SPLASH - Safety and basic fundamentals of swimming for special needs youths. There are a total of eight (8) sessions. From 2-3 pm O’SPLASH - New York State Special Olympic Swim Team. Focus on technique and development of all strokes (Fly, Back, Breast and Free). There are a total of eight (8) sessions. Children must be a minimum of 48 inches in height.

There are a total of nine (9) classes. Class times may vary. A parent or legal guardian of a Pre-K registrant must submit the required Pre-K Registration Form to the FYC Office no later than September 20th, 2017!

Registration: is Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at the Woodward School. Registration time is from 9 AM to 12 Noon; Registration fee varies. More information to be distributed separately.

CULTURAL ARTS / 2ND SESSION (WINTER) * is for children entering Grades Pre-K to 12 as of September 2017, and meet Saturdays at the Woodward Parkway School, beginning January 6th, 2018. There are a total of nine (9) classes. Class times may vary. *CULTURAL ARTS / PRE-KINDERGARTEN ONLY! Pre-K Cultural Arts are for children entering Kindergarten as of September 2017 for the Fall Session, and as of September 2018 for the Winter Session. Class size is limited so return the REQUIRED registration form below along with a check payable to "Farmingdale Youth Council, Inc." as soon as possible. Program fee for 9 sessions is $85. All registration forms and fees must be received in our office no later than September 16th, 2017 for the Fall Session and September 16th for the Winter Session as well! MEETING DAYS: Tuesday and Thursday Evenings

MEETING TIMES: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

REGISTRATION DATE: Thursday, December 14th, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Wrestling Room at the Farmingdale High School.

REGISTRATION FEE: $30.00 registration fee per child is required.

WINTER ELEMENTARY RECREATION* is for children entering Grades 1 through 8 as of September 2017, and meets weekly from November 4th, 2017 through mid-March 2018.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE FOLLOWING TWO SCHOOLS ONLY OFFER THIS ACTIVITY!

SALTZMAN MEMORIAL SCHOOL November 4th, 2017; 9 AM - 12 Noon

WOODWARD PARKWAY SCHOOL November 4th, 2017; 12 Noon - 3 PM

REGISTRATION: November 4th, 2017, date of first class at the respective school; $25.00 registration fee per child is required.

A varied program of recreational activities including quiet games, basketball, wiffle ball, kick ball, arts and crafts will be offered.

TEEN RECREATION PROGRAM is for children entering grades 6, 7 and 8 as of September 2017, which meets on alternate Friday nights from October 6th, 2017 through March 2018 at the HOWITT WEST SCHOOL GYMNASIUM AND CAFETERIA from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Activities for this program include: volleyball, basketball, ping-pong, bumper pool, knock hockey, and a variety of popular board games supervised by a qualified staff. Participants must be enrolled in the Farmingdale School District.

Parent or legal guardian MUST BE PRESENT in order to register. Participants must wear sneakers and leave all valuables at home. Farmingdale Youth Council cannot be held responsible for cell phones, Ipods, pocketbooks, electronics, etc. No participant will be permitted to leave prior to dismissal, unless signed out by a parent or legal guardian. No participant will be allowed to walk home. Participants must be dropped off and picked up at the Howitt School. Only the entrance located under the bridge connecting the east and west buildings is to be used. PLEASE BE PROMPT!

REGISTRATION: Friday, October 6th, 2017, date of first class at the Howitt West School; $30.00 registration fee per child is required.

SEWING CLASSES is for children entering Grades 4 through 8 as of September 2017, and meet in Howitt Middle School (East Building).

FIRST MEETING: Saturday, November 18th, 2017

MEETING TIMES: 12 Noon - 2:30 PM; and only if 2nd class needed, 9 AM - 11:30 AM

FASHION SHOW: To be announced...

REGISTRATION DATE: Saturday, November 4th, 2017 from 12 Noon - 2:30 PM in the Howitt Middle School (East Building).

REGISTRATION FEE: $30.00; Classes are limited to 30 students.

TENNIS INSTRUCTION For boys and girls entering Grades 3 to 8 as of September 2017 held at the Farmingdale High School courts. Instruction is for beginners and intermediates.

FIRST MEETING: To be announce... Sneakers and rackets are required. Please bring a donation of one can of new tennis balls.

REGISTRATION: at Farmingdale High School Tennis Courts, Saturday, April 1st, 2018, 9 AM to 12 Noon. In the event of inclement weather, registration will held in the Girls Gym same date and time.

REGISTRATION FEE: $30 registration fee per child is required.

MEETING TIMES: Grades 3-4 9 AM to 10:30 AM; Grades 5-8 10 AM to 12 Noon.

PLEASE NOTE: Farmingdale Youth Council Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM in the Howitt
School Library. All parents and taxpayers residing in the Farmingdale School District are welcome to attend and participate.
